End of Day 1
Our first day of our mission is complete! Pastor and his wife went out to dinner with us where we enjoyed authentic Central American tacos! Big thanks to Melissa for translating our conversations with Pastor and his wife! As we walked to and from dinner, we enjoyed the scenic view of the mountains and experienced the hustle and bustle of the marketplace. Some of the favorite parts of the day included dinner, singing praise after dinner, seeing all the interesting cars of La Paz, chatting with Pastor and his wife, playing soccer with the Pastor’s kids, befriending Padre Lizardo who is roommates with Lorielle and Sue, and working together as a team. Key takeaways from the day were that the people of La Paz are very welcoming, everyone seems to know each other in La Paz, and although we speak a different language than the people of La Paz, deep down we are not that different (people are people). We have arrived!
After many hours and prayers, we have arrived safely in Honduras! We have already had a few curve balls thrown our way. However, we know that God has a plan and will lead us during this mission. After we got through customs, we met the pastor and his family. They are very hospitable and kind, and we cannot wait to bond more with them over this next week. Pastor showed us around the church where we will be holding the VBS. The church was very beautiful. We were able to play with Pastor’s sweet kids and even meet their adorable dogs.
